The Boeing Company, El Segundo, CA                                                    2001 - 2016

Creative Services, Senior Copywriter

Collaborated with the graphics team, providing a strong understanding of marketing and branding and how they could be used to reach Boeing internal and external customers. Recent successful projects:

  • Developed a campaign concept to promote a change in culture from one where errors in design drawings were accepted to one of 100% accuracy. The strength of the concept, “Drawn to Perfection,” led to the application of this project from a local initiative in a large workgroup to a corporate-wide campaign. The initial target group of this campaign improved their accuracy from about 64% to more than 90%, year over year.

  • Identified the issues, honed the concepts, and created a look-and-feel for the on-going “PeopleFirst” campaign to showcase Boeing’s commitment to employee professional and personal well-being. Initiated at the Puget Sound location, the campaign was brought to the El Segundo office for creative input. Several Boeing entities saw increased traffic to their Web sites, including the Well Being, Community, and Learn Together programs.

  • Provided project management, in addition to writing and editing expertise, to the creation of Boeing’s diversity and technical nomination packages. Boeing nominees consistently won top honors at these competitions, including the most competitive and prestigious awards. While maintaining high quality, the team was able to lower costs and reduce the amount of time nominees were spending on these packages by hundreds of hours per year as well as reducing production time and costs by 6-7% year after year for several years.

  • Created new concepts annually to help Boeing El Segundo meet its environmental impact requirements through rideshare and other modes of transportation. Through the use of inexpensive, yet highly effective methods, was able to reach the maximum number of people at the lowest cost possible. These efforts allowed Boeing to meet its environmental goals and save thousands of dollars in fines and penalties.

  • Developed, wrote, and edited a printed newsletter to reach line workers as well as people in the offices. El Segundo Month-in-Review gave management in the satellite division a much-needed vehicle to communicate with the union workers during contract negotiations. The newsletter allowed management to present their side of each issue to the union workers, which was essential in avoiding a potentially prolonged strike.
